This home is a historical property in Stowe, Vermont. The history ranges from the first settlement area in Stowe, the first schoolhouse and then onto a popular farmstand and a ciderhouse. The next chapter will host a new coffee studio called The Roastery.
The Beginning

It all started with the first settler to Stowe, Oliver Luce in March 1793 with his wife and two daughters. The area around the property was the original settlement and where it all began in Stowe.

The area is now marked by a stone monument right by the property.
Upper Pucker School House
The Pucker Street home was the first school in Stowe in 1804 taught by Dr. Thomas Downer.

The school was active until 1954 when Stowe Elementary School opened.
Snow’s Vegetable Stand
The schoolhouse later became the private residence of the family and added a new structure out front called Snow’s Vegetable Stand and Upper Pucker St. School House.

Snow’s Market and Deli
As the business expanded – they added a larger building out front to run the farm stand, and eventually grew into Snow’s Market and Deli. Many locals still continue to refer to the property as “Snow’s” due to its popularity over a long period of time.

Stowe Cider

In August 2013, the Snow family retired and the property changed hands. The building out front became the original location of Stowe Cider. The apple trees remain on the property.
Stowe Cider’s third location is now located on 17 Town Farm Lane in Stowe, if you would like to sample some of their hard cider.
The Roastery
In 2014, a new family purchased the property and renovated the building out front. In late 2022/2023, the commercial building out front will be home to a new coffee roaster called, “The Roastery” and will serve fresh local roasted coffee and baked goods.
The residential units will be available for short-term rentals with all proceeds being used to restore the historical property to its original charm.
